Jitra Chookorn

Jitra is the founder of Energy Flow and BSC Healing. She has been practicing Remedial Massage since 1998, six months after she arrived in Australia, from Thailand, where she was born. She worked in a day spa in Broad Beach Water on the Gold Coast. In 2002, Jitra moved to Melbourne and opened her own clinic, called Energy Flow, with the vision of mind body connection. First located in Cheltenham, then in Moorabbin, Jitra moved the clinic to its current location at 727 Glenhuntly Road in Caulfield in 2007.

Jitra was running the business on her own, but as she grew increasingly busy she realised she needed a business partner. Sam O’Brien, also a Remedial Therapist, came on board in 2012, to help Jitra manage the business. Together, Jitra and Sam aim to take the business to the next level, using a mind, body and spirit approach.

While living on the Gold Coast, Jitra studied English, as well as completing a Certificate IV in Massage Therapy and then a Diploma of Remedial Massage. Her interests include Buddhism, Taoism, Yoga, Reiki, science of the breath, Western philosophy of psychology and holistic counselling.

Despite many years of study and gaining knowledge from these interests, Jitra did not thoroughly know and understand who she really was until she started mantra chanting and deep breathing meditation daily. This practice has made her understand that she is an energy being, she is the spirit that has this body, not another way around. We are one with all things, and we are eternal.

Jitra is a very talented person and has many skills to support her clients. She is an experienced Remedial Therapist, with expertise in Trigger Point Therapy, which helps her client relieve pain by getting rid of the knots in their physical body. However, she is now going even further, exploring the inner world of body and mind medicine.  Jitra has created her own healing modality called BSC (Breath, Sound Consciousness) healing using her own inner  knowing and understanding of the healing power of the breath and sound healing, and their relationship to our health.  The breath is deeply linked, not just to our physical health, but to our emotional, mental and spiritual health.

Jitra’s journey has not been easy as her mother passed away when she was 7 year old. To help cope with her tough childhood, she embraced Buddhist teaching and the Thai cultural belief in gratitude and creating value in every moment of life. This attitude of gratitude and turning inward for happiness helped to make her strong and fully believe in herself.

After overcoming life’s challenges, she is now a person who lives her life beyond day-to-day thinking. She lives her life based on faith (to be without doubt, believing in one’s own true nature, that is bright and light as the Golden Sun).
Jitra has been practicing chanting and meditation on and off for 15 years. Over the last 10 years, she has come to realise that life is contained within one’s breath and in the spirit of pure consciousness, we are one, we are an entity of the Universe.  Past, present and future exist in the now.

The power of the breath and sound has been well-known in the East for more than 6000 years. Sadly this wisdom has been lost in the modern Western world.
Jitra is now aiming to bring the healing power of the breath and Beeja sounds (BSC healing)  back to the world, as she believes it is food for every human soul. Just as our physical body needs a bowl of cereal for breakfast, our inner self needs 20 minutes of deep breathing meditation so we can connect to our heart. By allowing the breath to anchor our spirit in the body, we can exist in the present moment, live our truth, experience spiritual reality and find true happiness.

Sam O'Brien

Sam is a qualified Remedial Therapist, having completed his course at the Melbourne College of Natural Medicine (now called Endeavour College of Natural Health) in 2003. Sam specialises in both remedial massage with an emphasis on Trigger Point Therapy and reflexology. Sam is a member of the Australian Natural Therapies Association (ANTA).

Sam's life in the health industry began before he can remember. His grandparents owned and ran a health food shop when he was born and his mother, a nurse, and father, an ambulance paramedic, brought him up on a strict, no junk food policy.

Sam gained a love for soccer during his school years and from the age of 15 to 21 he played for multiple clubs in Victoria's highest senior level. Experiencing numerous injuries throughout this time, Sam gained an appreciation for the body and the importance of maintaining physical health.

After finishing his Remedial Therapies course, Sam travelled and worked abroad in a number of different fields, before being asked to tour manage and manage a musician. Sam's calm nature and steadying presence, along with the business and managerial skills he had acquired running his own web-design company, made him uniquely qualified for this role.

During the seven years working with multiple high-level musicians in the stressful and fast-paced music industry, the importance of both physical and mental health and stability became especially apparent. Having worked closely with anxiety and stress, you will find that Sam's calming presence and gentle nature provides the perfect environment for clients to get their health back on track.

Upon his return to Australia in 2012, while receiving a massage from his favourite therapist, Jitra Chookhorn, Sam mentioned that he was planning to re-enter the therapy world and use the skills and experience he had gained to help clients. Since then Sam has been working closely with Jitra at Energy Flow and is excited at the prospect of growing the business together.

Combining his knowledge of the body from studies, playing competitive sport and his experience with emotional and mental health, Sam is a therapist that provides a holistic approach to his clients.

Health fund rebates available for remedial massage.
